Veterans Assistance Dogs of Texas
Serving the needs of Disabled Veterans
By providing
Service Dog Companions

Becoming a Team

When a dog from our program is partnered with a Disabled Veteran, the team is trained to work together and is then certified. We continue to work  with and provide support for the team for the lifetime of the dog.

While a service dog is trained to perform specific tasks to assist their disabled partner, service dogs can also provide companionship, security and emotional stability during often difficult periods of recovery from physical and emotional wounds.

Perhaps one of the most important results of the Service Dog Training Program is that the veteran / dog team become Lifelong Companions.  Often people refer  to their service dogs as their Best Friends, Playmates and Loyal Companions.

If you wish to apply for a service dog, please be advised that the wait time is
approximately one year.
